Georgia Boys is a tale of a 14-year old boy whose only means of providing for his family during the Great Depression is join the Army prior to World War II. The tale traces the main characterÕs (Austin Webster) life through a family tragedy, the Great Depression, and the events which compelled him to join the Army in 1940. Weaving drama, mystery, humor, and even a touch of romance, the story continues into basic training and follows the steps of the 2nd Armored Division through North Africa, Sicily, England, France, Belgium, and Germany. Particular attention is given to the time Austin spent as a prisoner of war and his efforts to rejoin his unit after escaping from a brutal POW camp. The Afterword also gives a revealing explanation as to how fictional and factual events were woven together.
